MY NEW WALKING/GOAT HERDER STICK

If you ever take a walk in the woods or take your goats on walkabout then you know the importance of a good walking stick. I have been wanting one for a while now but, had not come across one I like.  I though about making my own one of a kind. Before I ever got a chance to do it my Brother In Law made me one.  I cannot express how much I love it. He personalized it by wrapping it with pink para cord and a yellow bow. I Love It! I wanted to get a picture of me taking the goats on walkabout with it by I am usually by myself.  I did finally get a picture to share with you all. Every Goat Herder, duck, chicken or whatever you herd needs a good stick.

Love this. A good stick is not to be underestimated. When I find - or buy - or am given - a good one, I do my best to treat it well. One thing I like to do (and this might strike you as weird) is to walk the perimeter of my property with it, to "teach" it the land. I strike it down at particular spots ("this is the south-east corner.... here is a bad boggy patch.... here is the highest spot on the property"). I like to imagine I am educating my stick, Bringing it Up, so to speak. Teaching it the job.
